September 2012, Alsace France and Patchwork Europa Quilt Show, Trip Details and Registration
The price of the tour includes the following:
- 11 nights in three star hotels
- All breakfasts, 4 dinners
- All ground transportation connected with the described itinerary
- Admissions to all museums and monuments on itinerary
- Admission to Patchwork-Europa quilt exhibition
- Guide and driver gratuities
- Extensive pre-trip preparation
Not included in the cost of the tour are:
- Air fare & transfers between airports and hotels
- Beverages for included meals
- Optional activities, entries & transportation
- Travel and trip cancellation insurance
- Personal expenses
Cost of the tour per person is $3650 (double occupancy in twin room).
A minimum of 15 participants is needed to proceed with the tour at this price. Your deposit will be fully refunded if we do not meet our minimum. In early April, hotels must be notified that we have a minimum of 15 tour registrants. To register for the tour, print out the registration form (PDF) and mail it with your $300 deposit to Jeanne.
Five single rooms are available. Contact Jeanne for details. Approximate cost of the single room supplement is $775.
3-Day Extension in Paris - September 19, 20, 21, 2012. The tour ends in Paris, which allows easy access to Charles de Gaulle airport for your flight home. If you wish to spend an additional three days in Paris, the price of the extension includes 3 nights and 3 breakfasts in our Paris hotel, transportation and entry at Versailles, and a guided walking tour in Paris.
The cost of the 3-day extension, per person, in a twin room is $600.
The approximate cost of the single supplement for the 3-day extension is $225.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
Notice of cancellation must be in writing.
- The deposit of $300 is non-refundable.
- If you contact us before June 1, 2012, we will refund 90% of your May 1, 2012 payment.
- If you contact us before June 30, 2012, we will refund 50% of your May 1, 2012 payment.
- There is no refund after June 30, 2012.
Trip cancellation insurance and health insurance is strongly advised, so that you will be protected if you find it necessary to cancel the tour or return home early. We will mail you an insurance brochure so you can be informed.
We cannot be responsible for changes in the itinerary that result from actions taken by our suppliers, the weather or world conditions. In good faith we will make the best alternative plans possible.
Tour details are subject to change based on size and energy of the group, as well as new exhibits and ideas coming to light.
Please note: The cost of the tour is subject to a small increase should the dollar become weaker resulting in an increase in land costs.
We have planned the itinerary to include historic, artistic and cultural activities of interest to all travelers. Except for days when we change hotels, you are always welcome to take the day off for rest and relaxation.
Please note: You will be lifting and carrying your own suitcase and hand luggage during the tour. Luggage (one checked bag and one carry-on bag) and "packing light" will be discussed in our newsletters. Participants need to be in good physical condition to fully enjoy this moderately strenuous tour. There will be steps and an abundance of cobblestone streets to navigate. Please check with your doctor if you have specific health concerns, and contact Jeanne if you would like further information regarding the pace of the excursion.
Starting in March, you will receive monthly newsletters filled with descriptions of the cities, towns and villages, as well as museums, monuments and places of interest on our itinerary. Included will be suggestions for packing and pre-trip reading. Before the tour begins the group will be invited to meet in Pacific Grove for an introduction to each other, and an overview of the tour's destinations and activities. This is a chance to have your questions answered and to share your ideas and specific interests. Jeanne is always available to chat by phone or email to answer your questions.
We welcome those who want to come with a friend or family member and, if possible, I will match up singles (non-smoking only) wanting a roommate. In addition to planned activities, there will be time to browse in the shops, discover a treasure, find the right moment for a photo, make a sketch, and spend time with other quilt makers on the tour. And again we remind you that this excursion involves daily walking and stair climbing. Except for lunch and tea breaks, it is not unusual to be on your feet most of the day.
